Every once in a while I get to the point of needing a break from breeding. Not permanent mind you, but a break from things. I am planning such a break to start later in 2016 and tentatively planning on resuming in mid 2017 or so. Just a chance to recoup and focus on some personal things such as my recent job change, some personal health issues, etc.
As a result of taking this break, I will be retiring some of my breeding cats in order to allow them to be pets rather than risk them developing infections, losing weight, or otherwise risking their health while I take my break. Some of the youngsters have just had kittens, so they will be just fine on a break.
Those I am retiring are:
Cassie - my 1 yr 3 month old blue tabby and white girl
Cooper - my 2 year old, big silver tabby boy who sired kittens for us all of 2015 and 2016
Istoma - my pretty dark brown tabby and white girl. She will be spayed in the fall and ready to go home around November. She will be 1 yr 10 months
Keep in mind that our adults are priced less than half the cost of a kitten, are all still quite young, and will be spay/neutered and current on vaccines.
Cooper does have special considerations as he has kittens in breeding. I am looking for a home that would continue his HCM screening for the next several years. So, ideally the home would need to be in AZ or Southern CA.
