At Prekrasne we believe in giving back. Each month we have kittens we will be making a donation to one of 3 worthy charities. We donate a certain amount per kitten as a monetary donation to Sock FIP or Winn Feline and we will make a donation of food and litter to our local charity, Lost Our Home Pet Foundation.
Lost Our Home started out taking in pets during the foreclosure crisis here in the Phoenix area. They currently take in abandoned and needy animals and work to find them homes with some of these dogs and cats staying with them or in foster homes for years before they find a home. Lost Our Home is located just up the road from University Animal Hospital where we take our Siberians and the 2 dogs.
Sock FIP is an organization that works to fund FIP research at UC Davis so we can some day be rid of this horrible, fatal disease. FIP has no test, no prevention, no treatment, and no cure. UC Davis is working tirelessly to find a way to fight this disease whether through treatment or through identifying genes in the immune system that make some cats more susceptible while most others are fine.
Winn Feline Foundation: Ricky Fund - The Ricky Fund within Winn Feline uses donations to help with HCM research. HCM is a serious form of heart disease that affects any and all breeds of cats including mixed breeds. The Ricky Fund was set up by syndicated columnist and tv host, Steve Dale. Steve set up this fund in honor of his Devon Rex cat, Ricky, who died of HCM.
